AN INTRODUCTION TO VISIBLE MENDING

Americans throw away about 14 million tons of clothing each year. Mending even a few items of clothing in your wardrobe can start to change that calculus. Additionally, by practicing Visible Mending you can create a piece of personalized wearable art!

Celebrate Earth Day by joining Kent State University Librarian, Edith Serkownek, in a one-hour presentation on the art and practice of Visible Mending.

The presentation will cover:

  • A Brief History of Visible Mending
  • Some of the AMAZING Fashion Library resources available to help you get started in your own mending practice
  • Examples and illustrations of some of the most common stitches to help you dive in with confidence
